Emma Straub in Avery!

Okay, okay, so we're on break and everything, but you definitely need to track down a copy of the new edition of the Avery Anthology. Avery II has many, many great stories, though we're particularly partial to one piece, "The Queen of Troy" by our very own MFA fiction writer, Emma Straub.

Check Avery out here.

The End of the Semester Is Nigh

Above: No UW-Madison Readings for a little while. That's sad. But, we'll be back in the "spring" (see below).

Okay, so this "closed for winter" sign is misleading for a couple of reasons:

1) We're not really "closed" because, well, we're a blog and the internet is kind of all over the place

and

2) When we start posting about our spring readings, it will still be winter, not really spring.

Maybe that's a marketing thing? Like, by calling it the "spring term" or "spring semester" we'll all somehow magically forget that when we're back in session in January that we'll be freezing our tuchis-es off walking to and from campus in the ice and snow, to and from campus in the ice and snow, to and from campus...okay, we must stop.

To warmer thoughts our minds fly. Or something.

See you in the "spring."

Above: Jesse Lee Kercheval, who will read this evening.

UW-Madison's own Jesse Lee Kercheval will read tonight at 7 p.m. in 6191 Helen C. White Hall. Her latest collection is the Prairie Schooner Prize-winning The Alice Stories. It's going to be a great event, so don't be late!
